Customized 5-Step Organization Service:

STEP 1: FREE Initial Consultation

At your convenience, the Organizing-Guru will come to your home for a FREE initial consultation.  A typical consultation will last about 90 minutes.  Before we arrive, think about your priorities for this space(s). Remember, your storage space is part of your home, so the entire family may need to be involved in this prioritization.

At the consultation, we will ask you what works and what doesn't work about the current set-up. We will perform a brief inventory of the storage contents and propose a basic verbal plan to store everything related to each activity (i.e. sports equipment, tools, paper work, etc.) into its own self-contained zone for practical access. We take into consideration physical and medical needs when proposing changes (for example, height restrictions, allergies, etc.)  Feel free to take your own notes regarding our suggestions.

At the end of this informational meeting, the Organizing-Guru will ask if you wish to receive a written in-depth estimate stipulating the approximate length of time the project will take, the approximate cost of labor and supplies, and the specific details of the reorganization proposed, organized room-by-room. This proposal will be emailed to you for your approval.

If you decide to go ahead with the Organizing-Guru's services, there will be no charge for this detailed multi-page room-by-room proposal; if you decide to take our advice without proceeding further with our services, a proposal fee of $15 per analyzed room will be charged to you, to be paid within one month of receiving the proposal.

STEP 2: Inventory

If you decide to go ahead with the project,

the Organizing-Guru will perform a thorough inventory of the storage space.

Items will be temporarily grouped by function and category (keep/donate/recycle/trash).

The Organizing-Guru will NOT remove any of your belongings during this phase,

so it is not necessary that you be present.

But be prepared – when confronted with the groups the Organizing-Guru has created

at the end of this phase, you may be overwhelmed!

STEP 3: Relocate, Remove, and Purge

Your presence is required at this time. Be prepared to answer the Organizing-Guru's favorite question: "Does this really belong here, or would it be better somewhere else - in the house or elsewhere?"

The most important part of becoming organized is knowing what to get rid of and what to keep.

IF YOU DON'T WANT / NEED / USE IT, GET RID OF IT!

If it's unfixable, recycle or trash it; if it's reusable, donate it. Note: If you think there's a slight chance that you might use this item on a cloudy 3rd Friday in February in the year 2048, you don't need it!

CUT your CLUTTER!

Small trash items will be bagged for trash pickup; recyclable items will be removed; clean reusable items will be earmarked for charitable organizations (for example, books and dvds to the local library; clothing and shoes to donation boxes; toys to Big Brothers/Big Sisters; games to upcoming yard sales). In some towns, residents are allowed to put one large item out with the trash each week; metal items may be picked up, curbside, upon making a simple phone call.

STEP 4: Design Layout

Now that you know what you have, and you are sure you want all of it, the fun part begins!

Where do you store it??

The Organizing-Guru's initial basic storage plan will be reviewed and revised, if necessary.

Your input is essential at this time.

Remember - our goal is to organize your space so that you are able to easily use it and maintain it.

Walls, ceilings, floors – nothing is off-limits to the handy Organizing-Guru, unless you say so.

STEP 5: Implementation

At this stage, your storage space is a new jigsaw puzzle, fresh out of the box. Your belongings are the pieces, strewn on the table. The Organizing-Guru's job is to put the puzzle together. In implementing your storage plan, the Organizing-Guru's handy skills and practical eye are essential.

Cost:

$40/hour, cost of supplies (if any) and excessive travel time extra.
